2020 Pinot Gris Clos des Capucins Domaine Weinbach

The Clos des Capucins vineyard, surrounded by the ancient walls of the Capucin monastery, is first mentioned in 890, when Empress Richarde donated it to the monastery of Etival, who then donated part to the order of Capuchin Friars in the early XVII century. The monopole vineyard extends over 5 hectares and consists of a terroir that ripens early and produces fruit-driven wines. The wine, which until the 2016 vintage was called Pinot Gris Réserve Particulière, is made from grapes from selected plots in the Clos des Capucins vineyard. This critically acclaimed wine has a powerful bouquet of raisin, exotic citrus and distinct notes of smoke and anise. The flavour is terrifically intense and rich, and culminates in a slightly sweet, crisp finish. A big, powerful wine.
