2020 Pommard 1. Cru Charmots Ballot Millot

Pommard is one of the most famous appellations for red wine in the Côte de Beaune.

There is no Grand Cru maker here, but rather a number of world-class 1. Cru parcels that deliver impressive quality for the money, as the appellation is often overshadowed by the more famous appellations of Côte de Nuits.

This means that you can make some superb buys here.

1. Cru Les Charmots is no exception and Ballot-Millot owns very old vines here that make a wine with incredible concentration and rich, dark fruit. The wine gains a lot with bottle aging and can spend decades in the cellar. Ballot-Millot uses 30 - 50% whole bunches in its vinification, depending on the vintage, to achieve the maximum balance.

Pommard 1. Cru Charmots usually achieve greater maturity than other Pommard and therefore produce more fruit-driven wines that can be bottled for 3-4 years before enjoyment.
