2022 Savagnin Macération Pelliculaire Arbois Domaine Pelican

This wine is made from the Savagnin grape which is the main grape in the Jura area where it can show many different characters. Unlike many others, Domaine du Pelican chooses not to make the traditional oxidative style (Sous voile) where the barrel in which the wine is aged is not completely topped up with wine. Domaine du Pelican vinifies a small part of the wine here as a red wine where it starts with skin contact and then fills up the whole barrel. This gives the wine a great structure without losing its freshness and life. Without the traditional oxidation, the grape's true aroma profile can be expressed with notes of fresh exotic fruit, spice and hints of toasted hazelnut and white pepper. A medium-bodied and vibrant white wine with high fresh acidity and a refreshing citrus aftertaste.
